Ocala, FL. – A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision on Thursday morning in Ocala, Levy County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 5:45 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 41 and SE 70th Lane.
A 57-year-old Ocala man was driving an SUV northbound on U.S. 41 and was attempting to pass a pickup truck ahead of him and collided head-on with a motorcycle being driven by a 57-year-old man from Morriston.
Debris from the crash also struck a pickup truck operated by a 29-year-old man from Williston.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver was hospitalized with serious injuries while the pickup truck driver sustained minor injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
