17-Year-Old Charged in Pittsylvania County Crash Resulting in Danville Motorcyclist’s Death.

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A motorcycle accident on Sunday resulted in the death of a Danville man after a collision with a Toyota Tundra driven by a 17-year-old.

The incident occurred on March 22, 2026, at approximately 5:39 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin Turnpike and Beverly Road, according to Virginia State Police.

Troopers reported that 63-year-old James Dillard Ley II was riding his Harley Davidson when the Tundra driver failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn, resulting in the collision.

Ley was pronounced dead en route to the hospital; the teenage driver did not suffer any injuries, authorities said.

The Virginia State Police are conducting an investigation into the crash.
