Motorcyclist Killed in Hempfield Township Crash

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA—A 19-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday morning after losing control of his bike on Route 819, according to officials.

Lam V. Duong of Greensburg was riding a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja 500 southbound around 8:45 a.m. when he failed to navigate a right-hand curve, causing him to crash into a ditch and a boulder. He was thrown off the motorcycle during the accident, the Westmoreland County Office of the Coroner confirmed.

Duong was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:45 a.m. The coroner noted the cause of death as blunt force injuries from the single-vehicle collision; he was wearing a helmet at the time.

Pennsylvania State Police are conducting an investigation into the crash. No further details were available as of Sunday.
