ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A 20-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision with a passenger car in south Asheville on July 1.
At approximately 10:43 p.m., Asheville Police Department officers responded to the crash in the 1700 block of Hendersonville Road. Preliminary investigations indicate multiple motorcycles were traveling north at high speeds when one motorcycle collided with a car turning east onto Turtle Creek Drive.
The motorcyclist, identified as Subastion James Samuel Cruz-Galyon, was ejected and transported to Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was just days away from his 21st birthday.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash. The Asheville Police Department plans to consult with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office to assess any potential charges.
