Hillside, NJ – A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 78 early Saturday morning resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman and several injuries.
According to New Jersey State Police, the collision occurred at 1:46 a.m. in the westbound local lanes near milepost 53.4. The victim, identified as Genna Spina from Denville Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash involved four vehicles, with multiple people sustaining injuries. Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby hospitals; their conditions have not yet been released.
Authorities closed portions of the roadway for several hours while an investigation was conducted to document the crash site. Investigators are assessing whether speeding, impairment, or other factors may have contributed to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
