HARLINGEN, TX — A two-vehicle crash on Friday evening killed a 23-year-old motorcyclist on San Jose Ranch Road and FM 509.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m., involving a Kawasaki ER-6 motorcycle and a Toyota Tacoma with a trailer, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Authorities identified the motorcyclist as Ezra Andrea Duke Villafranco, of San Benito.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Villafranco was attempting to pass vehicles in a no-passing zone as he approached the intersection. The Toyota Tacoma, traveling on San Jose Ranch Road, made a left turn onto FM 509, resulting in a collision with the motorcycle.
Villafranco was transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The crash is still under investigation, and no further details have been released regarding lane closures or additional injuries.
