26-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in NYC Crash Had Saved Two Years for Kawasaki, Says Sister.

Motorcyclist, 26, Dies in Crash on Harlem River Drive

A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Harlem River Drive near W. 170th St. around 2:20 a.m. on Thursday.

Ty Rodriguez lost control of his 2023 Kawasaki Ninja while riding with a friend, according to the NYPD. He sustained severe head trauma and died at the scene.

Rodriguez had only recently purchased the motorcycle after saving for two years. Witnesses reported he was a cautious rider seeking more practice.

The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is conducting an investigation into the incident.

Rodriguez’s family plans to hold a funeral in the Bronx on Wednesday, supported by over $20,000 raised on GoFundMe for service costs. Authorities confirmed he lived in Washington Heights and was just over a mile from home at the time of the crash.
