51-Year-Old Man Dies in Motorcycle Collision on Kapiolani Blvd in Moiliili.

MOILIILI, Hawaii (Local News Wire) — A 51-year-old man died following a motorcycle collision on Kapiolani Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 2026.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:17 p.m. near Mahiai Street, according to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD). A 67-year-old man driving westbound executed a U-turn when he was struck by the motorcyclist, who was also traveling west.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded and found the motorcyclist ejected onto the roadway. He was treated for life-threatening injuries and transported to an emergency room, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials noted the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. His identity has not yet been disclosed.

HPD reported that the driver of the vehicle was not injured. Kapiolani Boulevard was temporarily closed in both directions between Date Street and Waiaka Road but has since reopened.

Authorities do not suspect speed was a contributing factor, and the involvement of drugs or alcohol is still under investigation. This incident marks the 23rd traffic fatality on Oahu for 2026, compared to 44 fatalities during the same period in 2025.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
