MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 68-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a rear-end collision on U.S. 41 on Tuesday evening.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., a 51-year-old woman from Ocala was driving a sedan north on U.S. 41 when she slowed to turn left onto SW 25th Place. The motorcyclist, who was following the sedan, failed to stop in time and struck the rear of the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Both the motorcyclist and the sedan driver were transported to a local hospital. The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries, while the woman sustained serious injuries, FHP stated.
The incident remains under investigation, and no lane closures were reported following the crash. Further details regarding towing and additional emergency response were not immediately available.
This marks a tragic event in Marion County as authorities continue to address roadway safety.
