DEKORRA, Wis. — A motorcycle crash on County Highway J Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of a 71-year-old Sun Prairie man.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of County Highway J and County Highway CS, involving a small SUV and a motorcycle.
Witnesses reported the motorcycle went down into a ditch, and the rider sustained significant injuries. First responders provided immediate medical aid upon arrival.
Preliminary investigations indicate the 19-year-old driver of the SUV was traveling south on County Highway J when he crossed the center line near a curve, leading to a nearly head-on collision with the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the SUV driver was uninjured.
Authorities confirmed roadway closures lasted over six hours to facilitate an investigation. The identity of the motorcycle driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
