SHAFER, MN — A 71-year-old motorcycle rider died after colliding with a deer on Highway 95 in Chisago County early Sunday morning.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the accident occurred around 12:50 a.m., approximately 16 miles east of Forest Lake. The rider, identified as Bruce Roy Fillmore of Shafer, laid the motorcycle down in the northbound lane following the collision.
Fillmore was transported to a hospital in the Twin Cities, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was not under the influence of alcohol.
Emergency responders, including law enforcement and medical personnel, were on the scene to assist. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and there were no reported lane closures. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
