79-Year-Old Ocean City Man Dies in Fatal Route 50 Crash.

Maryland State Police are investigating a June 2 fatal crash on Route 50 that resulted in the death of a 79-year-old Ocean City man.

The deceased has been identified as Gregory Roth, who was driving a Nissan Altima. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel from Berlin. Autopsy results are pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. on June 2 at the intersection of westbound Route 50 and Route 610 in Whaleyville, Worcester County. Investigators report that the Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Route 610 and allegedly failed to stop at the intersection, colliding with a westbound Ford F-150.

The driver of the Ford F-150 refused medical treatment at the scene.

Westbound lanes of Route 50 were closed for the investigation. The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with road closures.

The crash is under active investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
