Dakota, MN (KROC-AM News) – A crash involving a van and a semi closed northbound Hwy. 61 in Winona County on Tuesday morning.
Injury Crash Closes Northbound Hwy. 61 in Winona County
The collision occurred around 8:20 a.m. near the interchange with I-90, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The semi was stopped on the shoulder when it was struck by the northbound van. The drivers of both vehicles were the only individuals involved in the incident.
Authorities identified the van driver as 41-year-old Bradley Alan Tremain of Winona. He was transported to a hospital in La Crosse with non-life-threatening injuries.
The semi’s driver, 36-year-old Nikola Alan Zifov of Darien, MN, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol. The Winona County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
Northbound traffic was diverted via westbound I-90 to County Rd. 12 in Nodine, where motorists then used Winona County Rd. 3 to rejoin northbound Hwy. 61.
Emergency crews have cleared the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
