One Dead and One Injured Following Highway 69 Crash in Independence County, Arkansas.

Fatal Crash on State Highway 69 in Independence County Investigated by Arkansas State Police

A two-vehicle crash on State Highway 69 near Hillcrest Lane in Independence County resulted in one fatality on Monday afternoon, May 19, 2026, at approximately 1:25 p.m.

According to the Arkansas State Police, a 2004 Ford traveling northbound lost control due to wet road conditions, crossed the centerline, and collided with a southbound 2024 Dodge Ram. Following the impact, the Dodge Ram left the roadway and caught fire.

John Doe, the driver of the Dodge Ram, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin had not been notified at the time of the report. Nathan Cole Woodall, a 22-year-old from Melbourne driving the Ford, sustained injuries and was transported to White River Medical Center for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation, led by Corporal Jeffrey A. Richardson of the Arkansas State Police.

No additional details on lane closures or tows have been confirmed.
