LA PLATA, Md. – A motorcycle and vehicle collision on Hawthorne Road near Ripley Road resulted in two hospitalizations on Sunday afternoon, August 3, 2025.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m., prompting emergency responders to the scene where they found a male motorcyclist in his 30s lying face-down in the road, suffering from back pain and a possible broken wrist. He was stabilized and transported to UM Capital Region Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle’s driver, a woman in her 70s, was evaluated on-site and taken to UM Charles Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
Authorities closed Hawthorne Road in both directions for over two hours while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
