Motorcyclist Killed in Crash Near Mathews Bridge, Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, FL — A motorcyclist died following a collision on Route 17 near Mathews Bridge on October 10, 2023, at approximately 2:41 p.m.
Authorities said the crash involved two vehicles: a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The motorcyclist, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
Emergency responders from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived promptly to manage the situation. According to eyewitnesses, the motorcycle collided with the rear of the pickup truck, leading to the deadly incident.
Following the crash, officials closed two southbound lanes of Route 17 for approximately two hours while an investigation was conducted. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
