Actor Treat Williams, 71, Dies in Motorcycle Crash in Vermont
Actor Treat Williams died Monday afternoon following a motorcycle collision with an SUV in Dorset, Vermont, according to Vermont State Police.
At approximately 5 p.m., a Honda SUV was turning left into a parking lot when it struck Williams’ motorcycle. Authorities stated Williams was unable to avoid the collision and was thrown from the bike. He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead, police reported.
Williams was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. The driver signaled the left turn and was not immediately detained; the investigation remains ongoing.
Williams, a resident of Manchester Center, Vermont, had a prolific career spanning nearly five decades. He starred in the TV series “Everwood” and appeared in notable films including “Hair” and “Once Upon a Time in America.” His agent confirmed his passing, stating, “I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.”
Williams enjoyed a diverse career, with stage roles on Broadway and accolades including a Golden Globe nomination. Colleagues praised his kindness and creativity, expressing shock and grief over his sudden loss. Authorities have not disclosed further details as the investigation continues.
