ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A motorcycle crash left Mingo Graham paralyzed below the waist ten years ago; he now rebuilds his life through intricate Lego creations.
Graham, 37, collided with a pole at 110 mph while riding his motorcycle, resulting in a broken C6 vertebra. He awoke from a coma months later at Stanford University.
Isolation to Innovation
Following his arrival at a rehabilitation facility in Anchorage, Graham spent approximately eight months without leaving his room. Eventually, he began constructing Lego sets.
His first project was a Lego replica of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the same model involved in his accident.
Finding Purpose
Graham emphasized that his builds provide essential motivation and a sense of purpose. “They give me motivation when I’m unmotivated,” he said.
Many are surprised by Graham’s positive attitude. “People are always blown away by my attitude and positivity,” he noted.
