One Dead in Lawrence County Collision Involving Ambulance and Motorcycle

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. — One person was killed in a crash involving an ambulance and a motorcycle on Alabama Highway 157 near the intersection with Lawrence County 243 on October 1 around 9:25 p.m.

According to Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood, the motorcyclist, a 33-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The ambulance was transporting a patient from Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield to Birmingham at the time of the incident. Another ambulance was dispatched to continue the transport of the patient.

Alabama State Troopers reported that the crash resulted in southbound lane closures on Highway 157 for several hours. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating the incident.
