A motorcycle crash in Narragansett on Friday afternoon claimed the life of a local man, according to authorities.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., emergency dispatch received reports of a motorcycle accident on Boston Neck Road. Authorities said 47-year-old Patrick Sweeney was traveling southbound when he attempted to pass traffic by entering the northbound lane, subsequently colliding with a pickup truck that was turning onto Conanicut Road.
Sweeney was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information regarding injuries or other vehicles involved has been confirmed at this time.
