Authorities identify 60-year-old Mason man fatally injured in motorcycle and UTV collision.

VEVAY TWP., Mich. (WILX) – A man is dead and two others are hospitalized following a motorcycle and utility terrain vehicle crash Tuesday night in Vevay Township.

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Barnes Road near Hawley Road.

A 60-year-old man from Mason was driving the motorcycle with a 45-year-old woman from Lansing as a passenger when they collided with a UTV operated by a 71-year-old Mason man.

All three individuals were transported to the hospital. The motorcycle operator, identified as Derek Babcock, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The other two victims remain in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the collision, which is still under investigation. Witnesses with information are urged to contact Deputy Stalzer at 517-676-8444 ext. 1939.

Barnes Road was closed in both directions during the investigation but has since been reopened.
