RAPID CITY, S.D. – A 44-year-old Summerset man died Wednesday in a single-motorcycle crash near Black Hawk, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred on Erickson Ranch Road at approximately 2:41 p.m. Preliminary investigations reveal Francis Michael Bierman was riding a 2010 Triumph motorcycle westbound when he lost control after negotiating a curve. Authorities reported that Bierman laid the motorcycle down, left the roadway, and became separated from the bike, sustaining fatal injuries.
Emergency medical responders were on the scene but were unable to revive Bierman. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and no further details about potential contributing factors or roadway conditions have been released.
