Body of Missing Man Identified in Wallingford
Wallingford, VT – The Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office identified Rodney Davis, 62, as the body recovered on Oct. 7, ruling the death a suicide, according to Vermont State Police.
Davis was reported missing on Sept. 19 after he allegedly caused serious injury to a family member and fled into nearby woods while armed. Authorities made brief contact with him, but communication ended when his cellphone reportedly powered down.
The Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team discovered human remains in the woods adjacent to Davis’ Nash Drive home. The remains were sent to Burlington for autopsy and identification. No further details have been confirmed.
Authorities emphasized the impact of suicide in the state, noting that support is available through the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline or by texting “VT” to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line.
Newbury Man Cited for High-Speed Driving
Newbury, VT – A 30-year-old man was cited for DUI and excessive speeding after Vermont State Police clocked him at 118 mph on Interstate 91 early Tuesday, according to the Journal-Opinion.
Jeffrey G. Nolan is scheduled to appear in Orange County Superior Court later this month.
Motorcycle Crash Delays Sexual Assault Trial
Ryegate, VT – A motorcycle crash has postponed the second trial of Max Fournier, a former corrections officer charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault in New Hampshire.
Fournier, who sustained serious injuries in the crash, was set to retrial on charges stemming from a 2019 incident, with the first trial ending in a mistrial in February. A status conference is scheduled for December.
