Man Killed, Motorcyclist Injured in Independence Boulevard Crash
MATTHEWS, N.C. – A man was killed in a collision involving a bicycle and a motorcycle on East Independence Boulevard on Monday night.
Authorities reported the crash occurred around 8 p.m. near the ramp to I-485. The cyclist, identified as 54-year-old Andrian Visser, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical but stable condition.
The Matthews Police Department stated that the roadway was closed for approximately two hours following the incident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
