LIDGERWOOD, N.D. — A motorcyclist faces charges following a serious crash injuring him and a passenger Thursday night near Lidgerwood.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on May 14, approximately one mile east of Lidgerwood. A 49-year-old man from Bismarck was operating a 2023 Harley-Davidson FXDR with a 37-year-old woman from Lidgerwood as a passenger.
The motorcyclist attempted to pass a 2005 Buick Park Avenue, resulting in a sideswipe collision. The motorcycle subsequently entered a ditch, ejecting both riders. Neither was wearing a helmet, and both sustained serious injuries. They were transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo for treatment.
The 59-year-old driver of the Buick, a resident of Lidgerwood, was not injured and is not facing charges related to the crash, authorities said.
The Bismarck man is charged with Driving Under the Influence, refusal to submit to a DUI test, and Driving Under Suspension.
The incident prompted a response from local emergency services, leading to lane closures on Highway 11 during the investigation. Further details about the crash are pending.
Lidgerwood is located approximately 75 miles southwest of Fargo.
