Boise Police Investigate Fatal Crash Involving Motorcycle and E-Bike
A fatal collision between a motorcycle and an e-bike occurred Thursday night in Boise, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.
The incident took place around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Phillippi Street and Morris Hill Road, according to Boise Police. Two juvenile e-bike riders and an adult motorcyclist were involved in the crash. One of the e-bike riders, a 15-year-old boy, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, as confirmed by the Ada County Coroner’s Office.
A second juvenile girl, also riding an e-bike, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, while the adult male motorcyclist was admitted with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcyclist was reportedly traveling north, while the e-bike riders were heading west when the collision occurred.
Authorities closed the intersection for an investigation while a crash reconstruction team examined the scene. The investigation by Boise’s criminal investigation division remains ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time. Details about the identity of the deceased e-bike rider have not been disclosed.
Police confirmed the e-bike involved was a 750-watt vehicle with pedals. Recent legislation in Boise differentiates between e-bikes and more powerful electric motorcycles, regulating their use on public roads.
