Motorcycle Crash Claims Lives of Danbury Officer and Woman in Danbury
DANBURY, CT—Two individuals were killed in a motorcycle crash on Sugar Hollow Road early Monday morning, police confirmed.
The victims have been identified as 38-year-old Officer Cooper Whiteside of Danbury and 34-year-old Brittany Islami of New Milford. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. near the Ridgefield town line.
Authorities report that a collision took place between a Jeep Compass and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. At the scene, police found the Jeep with significant front-end damage and the motorcycle lying on the road.
The driver of the Jeep was removed from the vehicle and transported to Danbury Hospital with serious injuries. Both Whiteside and Islami were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, the motorcycle was traveling south on Sugar Hollow Road while the Jeep was heading north at the time of the crash.
Whiteside, who had been with the Bridgeport Police Department since July 2024, was also noted for his extensive service with the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department, where he held multiple roles including firefighter and training captain.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, with lane closures reported in the area. Further details will be released as they become available.
