Bridgeport Officer Cooper Whiteside Dies at 43; Community Mourns
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Cooper Whiteside, a 43-year-old Bridgeport Police Officer and former Vice President of the West Redding Fire Department, passed away this week.
Officials confirmed Whiteside was dedicated to serving the community throughout his career. He joined the Bridgeport Police Department after ascending the ranks within West Redding Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter, EMT, Lieutenant, and Training Captain.
“Cooper found his true calling when he joined the Bridgeport Police Department,” a department spokesperson said. “He dedicated himself to serving and protecting his community with professionalism.”
West Redding officials expressed their condolences, stating, “We express our deepest condolences to the Whiteside family.” Brookfield officials also shared their sympathies, commenting, “Our thoughts are with Cooper’s family, friends, and his brothers and sisters in the Bridgeport Police Department and the Members of the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time.”
