Vehicle Collision on I-95 North Near Exit 47 Injures Four

A multi-vehicle collision occurred on I-95 North near Exit 47 in Smithville on October 5 at approximately 3:15 p.m., injuring four individuals.

According to the Smithville Police Department, the accident involved three vehicles, including a pickup truck and two sedans. Emergency responders, including Smithville Fire and Rescue, arrived on the scene shortly after the crash.

Two of the injured were transported to Smithville Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other two were treated at the scene. Authorities confirmed that all drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

Traffic on I-95 North was reduced to one lane for about two hours as responders cleared the wreckage and assessed the scene. There were no fatalities reported.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and authorities have not released any additional information on potential contributing factors. Witnesses reported that the crash appeared to be a chain reaction following a sudden stop in traffic ahead.
