Fatal Collision on Glenn Highway Claims Two Lives, Injures Infant
A collision on Glenn Highway near Anchorage resulted in two fatalities and critical injuries to a child on the morning of October 5.
According to the Anchorage Police Department, the crash occurred around 7:41 a.m. when a northbound Ford F-150, driven by 73-year-old Robert Twito, crossed the median into southbound traffic. The vehicle collided with a Kia Soul, a GMC Acadia, and a Ford Explorer.
Donna Reisinger, 37, driving the Kia Soul, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her one-year-old son suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Witnesses reported that bystanders attempted CPR on the child until emergency responders arrived.
Twito was also pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary reports suggest he may have experienced a medical emergency before the crash, though the investigation is ongoing.
The incident led to significant lane closures and traffic delays for nearly eight hours while authorities conducted their investigation. The Alaska State Troopers and Anchorage Fire Department responded to the scene.
The Glenn Highway, especially in the area known as the “S curves” near the Anchorage weigh station, has been a site for numerous incidents in the past, authorities noted. Further updates will be released as the investigation continues.
