A 19-year-old Caldwell man died after his motorcycle struck a deer on U.S. Highway 20 south of Pine at 9:30 p.m. Friday.
According to the Idaho State Police, the man was riding a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on U.S. 20 when he attempted to pass another vehicle and collided with a deer that had entered the roadway.
Authorities confirmed he was wearing a helmet but succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 20 were closed for approximately three hours while multiple agencies, including the Idaho State Police, Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, Elmore County EMS, and Camas County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the incident.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
