Motorcycle Collision Near Middlegate Claims Life of Former Fallon Resident
A collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV on U.S. Highway 50 near Middlegate resulted in the death of a 32-year-old man on Saturday at approximately 2:45 p.m.
Authorities confirmed that Drew Alan Smith, a former resident of Fallon, was operating a motorcycle when it was rear-ended by a 2014 Jeep SUV driven by a 62-year-old man from San Jose, California. The incident occurred near mile marker 42, approximately 45 miles east of Fallon.
Emergency response teams from the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) arrived on the scene. Medical aid was provided, but Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. The CCSO is conducting a death investigation and has confirmed that the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) has taken over the investigation.
