Motorcyclist Killed in Crash in Moriches
A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Moriches on Tuesday afternoon, according to Suffolk County police.
Charles Carrano, 19, was riding a 2006 Honda motorcycle east on Montauk Highway when he struck a 2014 Ram 1500 pickup truck at the James Hawkins Road intersection at 12:42 p.m. Authorities reported that Carrano was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the Ram, a 27-year-old Moriches resident, suffered no injuries.
The incident occurred just west of Center Moriches High School and the Moriches Bypass. Both vehicles have been impounded for safety inspections.
