Laconia Motorcycle Week Head Charlie St. Clair Dies After Motorcycle Crash
LACONIA, NH — State Rep. Charlie St. Clair, leading figure of Laconia Motorcycle Week, died on August 22 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
St. Clair, 69, suffered catastrophic injuries in a crash on August 4 in Ohio due to a tire issue while traveling to Sturgis, South Dakota. The Laconia Motorcycle Week Association confirmed his passing via a statement, attributing his death to heart failure following the accident.
For 35 years, St. Clair served as the executive director of Laconia Motorcycle Week and was also involved with the city’s Planning Board. He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, known for riding his Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic across the country to the annual rally in Sturgis.
St. Clair was the owner of Laconia Antique Center and was active in local affairs. He served in the New Hampshire House from 2017 to 2020, contributing his perspective as a member of the House Transportation Committee.
Elected officials, including Laconia Mayor Mike Bordes and Gov. Kelly Ayotte, have expressed their condolences to St. Clair’s family and friends.
Authorities and community members are mourning the loss of a significant figure in the local motorcycle culture.
