A 48-year-old man from Chicago died in a semitruck crash on Route J in Audrain County on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at 6:20 a.m. at Route J and Audrain County Road 481 when the semitruck ran off the right side of the roadway and hit a ditch. Authorities reported that the tractor trailer’s cargo shifted and struck the cab, leading to the fatality.
Route J was blocked immediately following the crash, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol had the road closed until approximately 3:15 p.m., as cleanup crews worked to clear the wreckage. According to a social media update from Troop F, the highway remained closed until the site was cleared.
The Missouri Department of Transportation confirmed the reopening of Route J by 3:15 p.m. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
