Colorado Biker Dies in Fatal Crash Near Newcastle While Not Wearing Helmet.

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. — A 30-year-old Colorado man died Sunday evening after his motorcycle left U.S. Highway 85 north of Newcastle.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Evan Haley was riding a Harley-Davidson when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve near milepost 234 at approximately 7:13 p.m. Witnesses reported that he drove off the road, hit a road approach, and was ejected from the motorcycle, which continued down an embankment before colliding with a tree.

Haley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. Authorities stated that speed is considered a major contributing factor in the incident, and weather conditions were clear.

This incident marks the 83rd road fatality in Wyoming for 2026, equaling the high numbers reported during the past two years.
