Waynesburg University Wrestler Dies in Motorcycle Accident

NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, PA — Jessie Orbin, a 20-year-old wrestler at Waynesburg University, died in a motorcycle accident Saturday night.

Orbin was riding a motorcycle on Linden Road when the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. He was transported by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.

Waynesburg University confirmed Orbin’s passing in a statement, expressing deep sadness and offering prayers for his family. Orbin, a junior, was recognized for his achievements in wrestling, including back-to-back titles at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships.

According to North Strabane Township Police, the accident is under investigation. Details about potential causes or contributing factors have not yet been released.

Orbin’s community is rallying to support his family, with a GoFundMe page established by members of the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, where his father is a trainer. Friends describe him as kind and dedicated, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

This tragic event follows another recent loss in the Chartiers-Houston Class of 2023, where 21-year-old Philip Fry also died earlier this month.
