An 18-year-old motorcyclist, Carter Mullins, died in a crash on Highway 51 east of Wagoner on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. when Mullins was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed, striking the rear of a minivan. Authorities confirmed Mullins was pronounced dead at the scene.

OHP stated that the cause of the accident was Mullins riding at an unsafe speed, and the investigation is ongoing. The minivan driver sustained minor injuries.

Emergency responders from local agencies provided medical aid, and a tow service was called to remove the vehicles involved. Multiple lanes were temporarily closed during the investigation and cleanup.

Wagoner Public Schools released a statement expressing condolences for the loss of their former student, stating, “Carter was a treasured member of our school family.” Community members have organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist his family, along with a meal train to support them in the coming weeks.
