Fatal Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Crash in Taylorsville; Suspect Arrested
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, Nov. 2, 2025 — A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash near Taylorsville High School Sunday evening, prompting authorities to arrest a suspect later that night.

Emergency responders arrived at 5:30 p.m. at 5400 South and 1500 West, where the motorcyclist was found unresponsive. Despite attempts by medical personnel from the Unified Fire Authority, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported following the suspect vehicle, a Chevrolet Avalanche driven by 47-year-old Dennis Kilgore, approximately one mile to a neighborhood in Murray. Authorities confirmed Kilgore exited the Avalanche and entered a second vehicle, where officers later located him and took him into custody.

Kilgore exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech and an odor of alcohol, according to police reports. He admitted to consuming three shots of vodka earlier that day. The incident investigation revealed that Kilgore had rear-ended another vehicle prior to colliding with the motorcycle. The driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Kilgore was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges including automobile homicide, failure to remain at an accident involving death, and several alcohol-related offenses. He has a history of four prior arrests for driving under the influence and was not using the required interlock device in his car.

Kilgore is being held without bail as the investigation continues.
