Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-295 in Richmond Leaves One Dead, Several Injured
RICHMOND, VA—A multi-vehicle crash on I-295 northbound near Laburnum Avenue resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries shortly after 3:15 p.m. on October 5.
Authorities reported that five vehicles were involved in the accident. EMS personnel transported three individuals to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, while one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Virginia State Police are investigating the incident. Witnesses reported heavy traffic congestion in the area due to lane closures, with two northbound lanes blocked for an extended period as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
Towing services have removed the damaged vehicles, and all lanes are expected to reopen by 6:30 p.m., according to officials. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
