RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – A motorcycle crash west of Rochford on August 1 claimed the life of a 67-year-old woman, identified as Dawn Hillman of Sioux Falls.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:03 a.m. near the intersection of South Rochford Road and Seven Hills Road, roughly five miles west of Rochford.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Hillman was a passenger on a 2025 Can-Am Spyder RT, driven by Randall Lee Hillman, 72, also of Sioux Falls. The motorcycle exited the roadway and rolled after the driver failed to negotiate a curve.
Dawn Hillman succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while Randall Lee Hillman sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Rapid City hospital. Both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the collision, and current information released is preliminary.
