A motorcycle collision with an SUV in Habersham County on Sunday morning resulted in the death of a Dawsonville man.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ga. 15 (441 Bypass). The SUV, driven by 70-year-old Arthur French of Lakemont, was stopped in the left turn lane, preparing to make a U-turn to travel north.
As French began the turn, his vehicle entered the northbound lanes, colliding with a motorcycle operated by 29-year-old Rodrigo Silva Manzo, who was traveling in the right lane. The impact caused Manzo to be thrown from the motorcycle, which subsequently struck a guardrail and a road sign before coming to a stop.
Manzo sustained fatal injuries, while French was uninjured. Emergency responders were on the scene to assist.
The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed as of yet.
