Deadly crash on Hwy 389 cleared, roadway now open.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A 33-year-old Panama City man died Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on County Road 389, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At approximately 2:41 p.m., a gray Suzuki motorcycle and a silver Kia Soul were traveling south on County Road 389 when the motorcycle collided with the rear of the Kia. This impact propelled the motorcycle into the northbound lane, where it struck a white Chevrolet Tahoe, troopers reported.

The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, he was pronounced dead shortly after emergency responders arrived.

The 79-year-old driver of the Kia and the 39-year-old driver of the Tahoe, along with a 14-year-old passenger in the Tahoe, were not injured, according to authorities.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The crash has caused lane closures at the intersection of County Road 389 and Cason Drive.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office recommends detouring via E. 26th Street/State Road 389. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
