CAMP VERDE, AZ (Local News Wire) — A fatal motorcycle crash closed southbound Interstate 17 near Camp Verde on Wednesday afternoon.
Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to the incident shortly before 2 p.m. on I-17 southbound at milepost 293.
DPS confirmed that the motorcycle rider died at the scene; however, further details surrounding the crash remain undisclosed.
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) closed southbound I-17 and established a detour via Cornville Road, SR 89A, and SR 260 to redirect traffic.
The left lane reopened by approximately 4 p.m., followed by the right lane at around 5 p.m.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
