Ameer Harcourt Ramouni, 30, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Florida’s Turnpike near Orange County on Sept. 8.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ramouni was riding his motorcycle around 8:30 p.m. when a tow truck changed lanes into his path, causing him to lose control. He veered into another lane, where two vehicles struck him. A third vehicle subsequently hit debris from the crash.
Authorities said Ramouni was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The crash is under investigation, and authorities have not indicated whether any charges will be filed.
Ramouni had recently moved to Longwood, Florida, from metro Detroit and was in flight school, with plans to return to Michigan after obtaining his pilot’s license. His uncle, Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin, expressed heartbreak over his loss, calling him “beautiful, kind, and brilliant.”
Funeral services are scheduled for noon on Sept. 12 at the American Moslem Society in Dearborn, with visitation set for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings at the Islamic Center of Detroit.
