A motorcycle crash late Sunday night in Wilmington, Delaware, resulted in one fatality and left several drivers uninjured.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on July 12, 2026, a Honda Passport and a Mazda CX-5 were stopped on eastbound Main Street at a red light, preparing to turn left onto northbound Limestone Road. Meanwhile, a Kawasaki Ninja was traveling southbound on Limestone Road. For reasons under investigation, the motorcycle failed to negotiate a turn, struck the curb, and threw the rider, who then slid underneath the stopped Honda.
The motorcycle operator, a 25-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on July 13, 2026. His name is being withheld pending family notification.
The drivers of the Honda and Mazda, identified as a 38-year-old woman from Wilmington and a 29-year-old man from Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, were not injured.
Main Street was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while authorities investigated the scene. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
