Details Released on Sunday Car-Motorcycle Accident in Webster City

WEBSTER CITY, IA — A car-motorcycle collision occurred at the intersection of First and Funk Streets around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, with serious injuries reported.

According to the Webster City Police, a southbound 2005 Honda Accord, driven by 23-year-old Reyna Cisneros Navarrette, attempted to enter the intersection while visibility was obstructed by a parked vehicle. The Accord collided with a westbound 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 48-year-old Jodi Bertran.

Bertran was initially transported to Van Diest Medical Center for serious injuries and later airlifted to UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines for further treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the parked vehicle contributing to the incident was illegally positioned 17 feet, 5 inches from the intersection, violating local ordinance. The vehicle’s owner was issued a citation and subsequently moved the vehicle. Damage to the motorcycle was reported as total, while the Honda Accord sustained approximately $2,000 in damages.

Officer Ian Holcombe cited Reyna Cisneros Navarrette for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and Yield the Right of Way. The investigation is ongoing.
