Dover Police Investigate Serious Injury Crash, Charging Driver with DUI and Drug Offenses.

Dover Crash Involves Multiple Vehicles, Leaves One Seriously Injured

DOVER, DE – On Monday, July 13, 2026, at approximately 3:17 p.m., a multi-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Forrest Avenue and Kenton Road.

According to the Dover Police Department, a 2026 Mazda 3, driven by 43-year-old Jessica Lopez of Hartly, failed to stop for a red light while turning left. The Mazda collided with a westbound 1990 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, ejecting the operator, a 67-year-old male, who suffered life-threatening injuries. The motorcycle then skidded and struck a third vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, causing minor damage.

The motorcycle operator was airlifted by Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital and is currently in serious condition. Lopez displayed signs of impairment at the scene and was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment of minor injuries.

Investigation revealed that Lopez, who had been arraigned earlier that day on an unrelated felony case with a No Contact Order prohibiting her from driving, had heroin and drug paraphernalia in her possession. Following her release from the hospital, she was charged with multiple offenses, including Vehicular Assault First Degree and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.

Lopez is currently held at the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in lieu of $33,202 cash bail. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7111 or visit www.doverpolice.org/contact-us.
