LITTLE RIVER, S.C. (WPDE) — A woman was arrested following a fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 17 on August 29.
Cheryl Richards, 67, of North Myrtle Beach, was charged with leaving the scene of a collision involving death, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).
Authorities report that Richards was driving a Ford SUV when she collided with a motorcycle near Chuck Lane in Horry County.
The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they later died, officials said.
SCHP noted that Richards fled the scene but was located shortly after the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, with the SCHP collaborating with Horry County Fire Rescue.
Richards has been released on home detention after posting an $80,000 bond, according to booking records.
