REDWOOD FALLS — A 64-year-old man died in a rollover crash while fleeing police on Saturday evening in Redwood County.
Francis Albert Rohlik was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 7:22 p.m. on June 27. He was traveling northbound on Redwood County Road 7, north of Belview, when he lost control of his vehicle and rolled over at the intersection of 400th Street in Kintire Township, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities reported that Rohlik was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Before the incident, officers attempted to stop his vehicle due to traffic violations around 7:19 p.m. The driver accelerated, leading to a brief pursuit that lasted about three miles before he lost control.
Deputies provided immediate medical aid, but Rohlik was declared dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Assisting agencies included the Minnesota State Patrol, Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Belview Fire Department, Belview First Responders, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, CentraCare Ambulance, and North Memorial AirCare. The Minnesota State Patrol is conducting an investigation into the crash.
